Membscribe (“Membscribe”, “we”, “us”, and “our”) is the fastest, easiest, and most secure platform for community payments, and we are committed to protecting the privacy of our clients. This privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) is designed to inform you about our practices relating to the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information.

Collection And Use Of Personal Information

The term “personal information” means information about an identifiable individual.

We may collect personal information when you:

• register to use Membscribe;
• provide instructions to Membscribe to pay certain vendors, including storing vendors in your payee list;
• integrate third-party accounting software with Membscribe; or
• contact us with a comment, question or complaint.

Registering to use Membscribe

We collect information such as your name, and contact information (incl. email address, mailing address, and phone number) for the purposes of identifying you and administering your Membscribe account. We may also run anti-money laundering searches and conduct certain background verifications such as obtaining your credit history, credit score, and other information for the purposes of ensuring that we accurately identify you, comply with regulatory and financial institution contractual requirements, limit Membscribe’s risk and combat fraud.

Providing payment instructions

Membscribe collects your banking information, including account, institution, and transit numbers for the purposes of processing and carrying out instructions to pay certain vendors at your request. Membscribe also collects information related to transaction history, account balance, account holder names, and other available data to help you pay your vendors faster. Membscribe also retains a payee list to help you pay vendors you have previously paid more quickly. You can remove entries from your payee list at any time.

Integrating third-party accounting software

If you choose to integrate third-party accounting software with Membscribe, we may collect personal information that your third-party accounting software makes available to Membscribe for the purposes of enabling the two platforms to communicate and synchronize transactions as requested.

Customer Service

If you contact us with a question, comment or complaint, you may be asked for information that identifies you (such as your name or email address) along with additional information we need to help us confirm your identity (if necessary), and to promptly answer your question or respond to your comment or complaint. We may also retain this information to assist you in the future and to improve our customer service.

Information We Collect Automatically

We and our third-party service providers, including Google Analytics, collect, process, store and analyze information obtained from your browser when you visit our Mobile App, including IP address, device identifiers, browser characteristics, operating system details, language preferences, referring URLs, length of visits, and pages viewed. We also use “cookies” or other tools that track, measure and analyze visitor behaviors and usage patterns in the Mobile App. We use this information to help us understand how visitors engage with the Mobile App and to improve our visitors’ experience.

A cookie is a tiny element of data that the Mobile App can send to your browser, which may then be stored on your computer or mobile device so we can recognize you when you return. We use cookies for analytics purposes as well as for certain features of the Mobile App. You may set your web browser to notify you when you receive a cookie or to not accept certain cookies. However, if you decide not to accept cookies from the Mobile App, you may not be able to take advantage of all of the features of our Mobile App.

Service Provider Arrangements

We may transfer (or otherwise make available) your personal information to our affiliates, partners and other third parties who provide services on our behalf. For example, we may use service providers to host our servers or send communications on our behalf. We also use service providers, such as Paystack, to process certain payments on our behalf. Any inquiries you have regarding our use of such service providers should be directed solely to our privacy officer, whose contact information can be found at the bottom of this Privacy Policy.

Our service providers are given the information they need to perform their designated functions, and we do not authorize them to use or disclose personal information for their own purposes. Your personal information may be maintained and processed by our affiliates and other third-party service providers. In the event that personal information is transferred outside of Nigeria, we shall ensure that such transfer would be in accordance with the provisions of the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation 2019 (“NDPR”).

 

Sale of Business

We may transfer any information we have about you as an asset in connection with a merger or sale (including transfers made as part of insolvency or bankruptcy proceedings) involving all or part of our operations or as part of a corporate reorganization or stock sale or other change in corporate control.

Technical Information

When you use our Mobile App, we collect information about your interaction with our servers. We also collect the IP (Internet protocol) addresses of all users and other related information such as device type, operating system, and average time spent using our platform. We collect and use this information for the purposes of helping us understand how our users use our Mobile App and to optimize our platform and service offering.

Safeguards

We have implemented administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information in our custody and control against unauthorized access, use, modification, and disclosure. We restrict access to your personal information on a need-to-know basis to employees and authorized service providers who require access to fulfill their job requirements.

We have personal information retention processes designed to retain personal information for no longer than necessary for the purposes stated above or to otherwise meet legal requirements.

Our Mobile App may contain links to other sites that Membscribe does not own or operate. We provide links to third-party Mobile Apps as a convenience to the user. These links are not intended as an endorsement of or referral to the linked Mobile Apps. The linked Mobile Apps have separate and independent privacy statements, notices, and terms of use, which we recommend you read carefully. We do not have any control over such Mobile Apps, and therefore we have no responsibility or liability for the manner in which the organizations that operate such linked Mobile Apps may collect, use or disclose, secure, or otherwise treat your personal information.

You have the right to access, update, and correct inaccuracies in your personal information in our custody and control, subject to certain exceptions prescribed by law.
